Handcrafted Peruvian Kuripe – Caapi Vine, Sacred Stones & Crystal Point

These handcrafted Peruvian Kuripes bring together sacred woods, ceremonial Caapi vine, natural gemstones, and the clarity of quartz to create powerful tools for Rapé application. Each Kuripe is carved from a traditional hardwood such as Chonta, Palo Santo, Palo Sangre, Palo Duro, or Zebra Wood, offering a unique expression of energy, texture, and lineage. These materials are selected for their strength, character, and long history of use in Indigenous craft.

Every Kuripe in this collection is adorned with a slice of Caapi vine (Banisteriopsis caapi) — the central vine of Ayahuasca ceremonies — honouring its role as a bridge between worlds and a symbol of spiritual insight. Alongside the Caapi, each piece features a semi-precious stone chosen to complement the wood’s natural quality, adding colour, presence, and a subtle energetic influence. At the tip of the Kuripe sits a small quartz crystal point, enhancing clarity and intention during application. Quartz is traditionally associated with amplification, purification, and focus, making it a meaningful addition to a ceremonial tool.

One exception is the Zebra Wood Kuripe, which carries no crystal point, and is instead decorated with a Wicungo husk, a natural seed casing used by Indigenous communities for its earthy simplicity and connection to the forest floor. This gives the Zebra Wood version a distinctly rooted character.

Designed with a medium channel and crafted for comfort, each Kuripe offers a balanced blow suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Natural variations in colour, grain, vine structure, and stone patterns make every piece one of a kind — a blend of nature, craft, and ceremonial symbolism.

Whether used in private practice, healing work, or traditional prayer, these Kuripes bring together the elements of wood, mineral, plant, and spirit with a refined and respectful aesthetic.

Materials

Chonta

Chonta (Bactris gasipaes) is one of the hardest and most protective woods of the Amazon, deep brown to black with a tight, compact grain. Long used for weapons, tools, and ceremonial objects, it carries the energy of discipline, resilience, and grounded strength. A Chonta Kuripe feels solid and focused, ideal for practitioners who value firmness and spiritual protection.

Palo Santo

Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens), the “Holy Wood,” is known for its warm golden tones and subtle natural fragrance. Medium-hard and beautifully grained, it offers a calm, harmonising presence during ceremonies. A Kuripe made from Palo Santo carries a gentle, uplifting quality supportive of mental clarity, cleansing, and peaceful intention. To read more about the beautiful Palo Santo wood, click here.

Palo Sangre / Bloodwood

Recognisable for its vivid red colouring, Palo Sangre (Brosimum rubescens / Pterocarpus spp.) is a dense, heavy hardwood linked to vitality and rooted energy. Its strong grain and natural durability give it a warm, stabilising feel, connecting the practitioner to the life force and grounding the body during Rapé work.

Palo Duro

Palo Duro (Hymenaea, Prosopis, Tabebuia spp.) encompasses a family of extremely dense tropical hardwoods, chosen for their long-lasting durability and earthy strength. Dark-toned with a fibrous grain, Palo Duro supports steady, disciplined practice and brings a deep grounding quality to the Kuripe.

Ayahuasca Vine – With Wicungo Husk

This Kuripe is carved from the Ayahuasca vine (Banisteriopsis caapi), giving it a rare and deeply symbolic character. The vine’s natural pattern ranges from soft ochre to deep brown, marked by organic twists and subtle textures formed over years of growth. As the central plant of the Ayahuasca brew, the Caapi vine is honoured as a teacher and a guide, associated with insight, intuition, and connection to the spiritual world. Instead of a crystal point, this Kuripe is adorned with a Wicungo husk, a natural seed casing used in traditional forest crafts. The husk adds an earthy, grounded touch, complementing the vine’s spiritual presence and creating a Kuripe that feels both ancient and intimately connected to the forest.
