Hand-Carved Bufo Frog Kuripe – Waru Wood

This unique Kuripe, carved by our artisan friends in Bali, features a stout Bufo frog resting on the side of the Kuripe. When held to the face for application, the frog sits on the left, facing the user directly. With its rough-textured skin and stern, grounded expression, the Bufo adds a strong visual presence, giving the pipe a potent and protective character.

Crafted from Waru wood, this Kuripe has a muted brown-grey tone with subtle grain markings. Waru (also known as Grey Hibiscus wood) is a traditional wood in Indonesian carving, appreciated for its lightness, workability, and natural warmth. Though not heavy, it holds a sturdy feel in the hand and offers a smooth surface that’s comfortable during use.

The Kuripe is shaped for functional balance, with a medium-diameter channel delivering a steady, moderately strong application. It’s well-suited for users who appreciate a natural-feeling tool with symbolic weight. Lightly polished and free of varnish, the wood retains its raw touch, and the detailed carving gives each piece distinct personality.

As a handmade item, no two are identical. Variations in grain, tone, and frog expression may occur, making each Kuripe unique. The one you receive will reflect the same design and quality, with its own individual character.
