This Rapé is another wonderful healer from Pedro Hunivu, master of the plants, from the Kuntanawa people. A Rapé prepared with organic Moi Tabaco and Tsunu ashes.

This grey-greenish Rapé is prepared with Louro, or Lourinho, a local herb name that can be found from region to region. The Louro herb used by Pedro can be a different plant than used by different from other tribes just a few hours down the river. Some tribes use the same name for different plants. This makes researching and finding the plants scientific information very difficult.

Louro is a herb that has a refreshing minty and anise like flavour that helps the respiratory system, problems like clogged up nose because of dust and things in the dry season in the forest. It is used for throat problems. Also it can help balance acidity or when feeling nausea in the stomach. It helps to relax and clear the body apart from clearing the mind and relaxing the spirit.

This is an extremely fine and dry powder. It takes great effort to produce such a fine powder at a 150 micron fineness. All the Rapé, Tabaco and ashes powders that we source, are refined to a consistent fineness and dryness, before packaging. We use laboratory grade sieves and dehydrating equipment to achieve a a high quality product.

Like the Nukini, the Kuntanawa tribe became almost extinct due to the massacres of the latex cycle. One single family was left after the rubber boom and only since the beginning in 2000 a small group of Kuntanawa started to claim their indigenous heritage (Pantoja et al. 2014; Labate et al. 2014). Unfortunately, their culture is still under threat and the Kuntanawa are still struggling to regain full ethnic recognition and they are trying to regain their territory. Nowadays, there are only about 250 members left that are scattered throughout the region of Acre, Brazil. In order to survive, the Kuntanawa are joining other Pano linguistic tribes and they are organising festivals together to share their traditions, their rituals, and their culture with foreign visitors. This small Pano linguistic tribe strongly values the ritualistic use of Ayahuasca to teach them and to guide them. The Kuntanwa even hold a strong believe that Ayahuasca will unravel their ancient knowledge and bring back their partly lost traditions (Pantoja et al. 2014). However, their language seems to be irrecoverably lost (Labate et al. 2014).
