Caboclo Daime - Formerly called "Yawanawa Daime"

Function and Composition

Caboclo Daime is a powerful and finely balanced Rapé originating from the forest community of Rio Crôa, in Acre, Brazil. It was once known as Yawanawá Daime, a name that recalls its beginnings in collaboration with Yawanawá families who provided the original forest ingredients. Over time, the preparation evolved under the hands of Jesse Nunes de Paula, a Caboclo maker of mixed Indigenous ancestry, whose dedication to the forest and to Daime work shaped this medicine into a unique creation of its own.

The blend unites Sabia Tabaco with the ashes of Paricá (Schizolobium parahyba, locally called Xixá) and a subtle touch of wild aromatic herbs. The result is a Rapé of firm presence and deep clarity. It is fine in texture, earthy yet luminous, carrying the essence of riverbank soil and the breath of the forest canopy. Balanced between grounding and expansion, Caboclo Daime brings a steady and measured strength — neither sharp nor overly heavy — suitable for both dedicated practitioners and those entering the medicine with care and respect.

Energetic and Ceremonial Effects

The energy of this blend unfolds in distinct waves. Its opening is bright, fiery, and cleansing — the Paricá ash activates the upper regions of the head and clears the frontal mind. Then, as the pulse settles, the Sabia Tabaco draws the awareness downward, grounding the energy through the heart, abdomen, and legs, until the entire body becomes a vessel of calm and grounded strength.

Caboclo Daime is favored by those who participate in long forest works, ceremonies, or spiritual retreats that demand endurance, clarity, and discipline. It supports the body through physical fatigue while maintaining a sharp inner focus. The medicine acts as a silent ally, clearing confusion, aligning breath, and restoring balance between thought and movement. Like the Daime hymns that rise from the forest at night, it works in both directions — ascending in vision, descending in presence — a balanced axis between the earth and the heavens.

Sabia Tabaco

Sabia Tabaco (Nicotiana rustica) is a dark, rich, and steady variety cultivated throughout Acre. Unlike the lighter Moi or Arapiraca Tabacos, Sabia holds a denser and more masculine presence. It brings protection, sobriety, and firmness of spirit. Within this blend it serves as the stabilizing element, ensuring that the intense clarity of the Paricá ash remains anchored in the body. The aroma is deep and smoky, carrying the unmistakable scent of the forest floor after rain — a medicine that restores presence, focus, and rootedness. Paricá Ashes

The Paricá, or Xixá, is one of the great forest trees, known for its towering trunk and golden flowers that shine like sunlight through the canopy. Its wood burns clean and bright, leaving behind a fine white ash revered by many forest makers. In the hands of Jesse, Paricá becomes the clarifying element that defines this Rapé — the aspect of the blend that opens the mind, clears stagnant thought, and refines the senses.

Traditionally, the Paricá tree symbolizes the communication between the realms of earth and sky. Its ashes are said to purify confusion and bring insight. In this blend they provide the bright, upward-moving current that harmonizes perfectly with the earthy pull of Sabia Tabaco. To read a comprehensive article on the Paricá ashes, click here.

The Maker: Jesse Nunes de Paula

Jesse Nunes de Paula is a Caboclo artisan from the heart of the Amazon rainforest. His family lineage is deeply rooted in the region — his father, a respected community leader, devoted his life to teaching local rubber tappers to read and write and played a key role in establishing a natural reserve that now protects vast areas of untouched forest.

From an early age Jesse learned the rhythm of the forest: tapping rubber, harvesting, and observing the healing properties of plants. Over the years, this practical knowledge evolved into a deeper exploration of plant consciousness and ceremonial use. His Caboclo Paricá Rapé was born from this journey — a revelation that united his personal connection to the Paricá tree with the spiritual guidance of the Daime tradition.

Through sharing his blends with the world, Jesse supports his community while fostering ecological and cultural preservation. The proceeds of his work sustain local families, fund reforestation initiatives, and promote sustainable forest management. His Rapés are not only medicines but acts of stewardship — expressions of gratitude to the land that raised him.

The Caboclo Lineage

The word Caboclo refers to the people of mixed Indigenous, European, and African descent who inhabit the Amazon’s riverine zones. They are the bridge between worlds: the keepers of forest knowledge who also navigate the social and spiritual dynamics of modern Brazil. Within the Santo Daime tradition, the Caboclo archetype represents the spirit of the forest — humble, courageous, and devoted to truth.

Caboclo Daime embodies this lineage in its purest form: a meeting of forest strength and human discipline. The medicine speaks with both the language of the trees and the voice of prayer. It is the forest translated into human will — a fusion of ancestral knowledge, natural reverence, and the disciplined clarity of the Daime path. Natural Variation and Care Notes

As with all hand-prepared Rapés, Caboclo Daime carries the marks of season and spirit. Each batch may vary in tone, aroma, and sharpness depending on the specific ashes used and the weather during preparation. The powder is extremely fine and requires careful storage — kept dry, cool, and sealed from light and humidity.

When using, sit upright and remain still for several minutes, allowing the medicine to travel and integrate. Avoid lying down, as this may cause the mixture to fall back into the throat. Once the clearing subsides, the mind will often feel still, lucid, and renewed. The experience continues subtly for hours afterward — a lingering clarity that mirrors the quiet endurance of the forest itself.

On the Use of Intentions

As with all Rapé blends, the use of this medicine is best approached with presence and respect. It is not a consumer product, nor a stimulant. It is a sacred tool, meant for intentional use, whether in solitary practice or guided ritual. Please read our article on the subject of Intention and Affirmation.

Setting the Standard for Ultra Fine Rapé

We take great care to reprocess all received stock to ensure the finest quality powder. Often, Rapé arrives with varying levels of fineness due to the lack of professional sieves used by the tribe. To address this, we meticulously sieve all powders to remove rough bits and particles, resulting in an exceptionally smooth and effective powder at 150-micron fineness. We use laboratory-grade sieves and dehydrating equipment to achieve this quality. This is our standard because it provides the best Rapé experience.
