Cultural Significance

In Bhutanese Buddhism, incense holds profound importance. Burning incense is a daily practice in homes, temples, and during rituals, serving as offerings to deities and local spirits. The act of offering incense, known as "Sang," purifies the environment, wards off negative energies, and creates a sacred space for spiritual practices. The smoke is believed to carry prayers to the heavens, aiding in concentration and relaxation during meditation.

Production Methods: The art of making Bhutanese incense has been passed down through generations. Each stick is carefully handcrafted, using natural ingredients that are sun-dried and hand-rolled. The number of incense sticks produced is often determined by the annual fruiting of Himalayan juniper berries, harvested sustainably to ensure environmental balance.
