Bottle, 10 Ml, 7 Gr from Brazil (SKU 4360)
(Batch #1188). Pau Mulata is a Rapè made by the family of Fernando Katukina. After application one's sense of time slows little by little and the relaxing effects become almost a meditation. Calmness pervades the system and the warmth of the Rustica can be felt deep within the frequency. Definitely a great Rapé for the winter months wrapped up by the fire keeping warm and for enjoying time in deep reflection. More information can be found below.
Packed in 10 ml clear plastic bottles containing 7 gram.
This is one of 5 new Rapé's that we have obtained directly from the Katukina tribe.
Pau Mulata (also called Mulateiro) has a distinctive aroma of ancient deep forest earth. An exceptional blend from the Katukina. The subtle yet powerful mix of Tabaco and ashes heightens the cerebral state of the user and gently awakens the mental faculties from any dreamy state or lack of concentration. Many blends tend to leave the user in a relaxed mental state whereas Pau Mulata seems to activate the thoughts substantially. The very fine powder absorbs well and even after continued use barely makes it way into the throat. Tears are minimal but occasional. This Rapé can support activities where the user needs to be focused and concentrated. As with all Rapè preparations it is advised to be away from normal routines and pressures and to take time out of ones normal life to experience this traditional medicine of the Amazon.
Pau Mulata is similar in appearance and colour to the Pau Pereira with the noticeable difference in the effect. This preparation is more manageable and relaxing than the Pau Pereira and also the majority of current Rapé's. A sense of self observation is noticeable immediately after blowing out. In small quantities this can be a good first introduction to Rapè and it’s effects. Some physical effect is to be expected however purging is unlikely due to the warmth of the experience.
A wonderful and detailed article about the Katukina and our connection with them, can be found here.
This Rapé came as a somewhat coarse powder with lots of rough bits in it. After sieving it is now an extremely fine and dry powder. It takes great effort to produce such a fine powder at a 150 micron fineness. This is our standard because this provides the best Rapé experience. All our Rapé is processed to a high standard and consistent fineness and dryness, using laboratory grade sieves and dehydrating equipment, before packaging.
Tabaco: Nicotiana rustica
Ash: Pau Mulata - Calycophyllum spruceanum
Other names: Noke Koi, Mulateiro.
Katukina or Catuquina, Katokina, Katukena, Katukino are generic terms that are attributed to five linguistically distinct but geographically proximate indigenous groups that live in southwestern Brazil at the border of the Amazonas and Acre. The Katukina are a tribe that is very connected to the usage of sacred plants. They consider themselves as the first tribe to receive the Kambo medicine straight from the frog. They still carry a vast knowledge about plants and the spirit of the world. Their Rapé is strong and deep, and it carries the wild and powerful spirit of the jungle.
