These Ashes, called "Cinza" in Brazil, are made from the Pau Pereira (Platycyamus regnellii) tree bark and wood. Ashes of this tree are referred to as Tsunu or Txunú. This is a Brazilian tree that belongs to the Fabaceae family. The ashes of the Txunú tree bark are often used for spiritual purposes in Amazonian tribes and have a supportive role during Ayahuasca ceremonies. Mostly Tsunu is used before Ayahuasca ceremony, enhancing the effects and opening the spirit for the ceremony, but also during intense ceremonial experiences, easing the vomiting and cleaning. Furthermore, the Txunú tree bark seems to facilitate healing by opening the spiritual heart and removing energy imbalances.

This exquisite ingredient is a crucial element of a powerful and balanced blend and should not be omitted in your own favourite rapé composition. Tsunu ashes mix excellently with any of the Tabaco powders. Furthermore, blending Tabaco with ashes increases the strength and absorption, making it exquisitely strong. As one, after getting more familiar with the use of indigenous Rapé, will start to notice that all ashes have their own quality and effect, some more light on the nose, some a bit sharp, some making the Rapé stronger and all have their particular medicinal qualities.

This is an extremely fine powder. It takes great effort to produce such a fine powder at a 150 micron fineness. This is our standard. All of our products we process to a high standard and consistent fineness, using laboratory grade sieves.

A detailed description on how to blend your own Rapé can be found here.
