Ashes from Jagube vine. Jagube is know as a master plant. Some tribes, in this case the Shawãwa, use only the bark to make the brew, so the wood of the Caapi, also known as Jagube, is discarded and they use it to make ashes for Rapé.

Banisteriopsis caapi, also known as Jagube, Caapi or Yagé (Yage), is a South American liana of the family Malpighiaceae. It is one part of the brew, a decoction with a long history of its entheogenic (connecting to spirit) use and its status as a "plant teacher" among the Indigenous peoples of the Amazon rainforest. This exquisite ingredient is a crucial element of a powerful and balanced Rapé blend and should not be omitted in your own compositions. Cinza or ashes mix excellently with any of the Tabaco powders. Furthermore, blending Tabaco with ashes increases the strength and absorption, making it exquisitely strong.

This is an extremely fine powder. It takes great effort to produce such a fine powder at a 150 micron fineness. This is our standard. All of our products we process to a high standard and consistent fineness, using laboratory grade sieves.

Jagube is native to northern and western South America, and can be found growing in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. The vine can grow quite long—up to 30m—and it climbs on other plants for support. It develops small white or pale pink flowers that most commonly bloom in January. It grows in shade or semi-shade, where it does well in moist soil with a neutral to very acidic pH.
