Hand-Carved Ganesha Tepi – Tamarind (Tamarindus indica) or Sawo Wood (Manilkara kauki)

This beautifully hand-carved Tepi features the form of Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity honoured as the remover of obstacles and the god of beginnings. Ganesha is associated with new paths, fresh starts, and auspicious ventures. He is traditionally invoked first before any other deity, acting as a spiritual gatekeeper, opener of doors, and guide through transitions.

At the longer end of the Tepi, Ganesha’s head is carved with symbolic detail: white tusks, a curled trunk, and stylised facial features. Above the head, an ornate headdress rises to a point, lending the piece verticality and ceremonial elegance. Beneath the face, a band of decorative carving adds texture and definition. The elephant’s large ears are carved prominently along both sides, forming a natural transition into the pipe’s body. Additional decorative motifs also adorn the underside, making this a richly detailed piece from every angle.

Each Tepi is crafted from a single block of solid wood, available in two natural options:

Tamarind wood (Tamarindus indica) – A dark, dense hardwood known for its strength, deep grain, and grounded energy—perfect for ceremonial use.

Sawo wood (Manilkara kauki) – A lighter-toned wood with warm orange and golden hues, offering a softer, welcoming feel that is long favored in Balinese carving traditions.

The pipe has a 6 mm medium-diameter channel, delivering a smooth, consistent airflow suitable for most users. Its shape provides a stable, comfortable grip for steady, controlled application during personal or ceremonial use.

Finished with natural Coconut oil and free from synthetic varnishes, this Tepi retains the raw integrity and tactile richness of the wood. Each piece is unique, with natural variations in grain, carving, and tone—ensuring your Tepi is not only functional, but one of a kind.

Tamarind wood dimensions: 22 × 5 cm. Channel opening: 6 mm.

Sawo wood dimensions: 22 × 6 cm. Channel opening: 6 mm.
