Hand-Carved Kambo Frog Tepi – Tamarind or Sawo Wood
This handcrafted Tepi, made by our skilled artisan friends in Bali, features a carved Kambo frog seated atop the pipe. When held in the hand, the frog rests visibly on the top side of the applicator. Since both ends of the Tepi are symmetrical, the frog can be positioned to face either the giver or the receiver during the application, offering a symbolic presence to both.
Each piece is carved from a single solid section of either Tamarind or Sawo wood. Tamarind wood is a dense, dark-toned hardwood, known for its resilience and richly grained texture. It has a grounded feel and offers durability for frequent ceremonial use. Sawo wood, by contrast, is lighter in tone, with subtle orange and golden patterns. Its softer visual presence makes it a warm and approachable material, long appreciated in traditional Balinese carving.
This Tepi features a medium-diameter channel and is suitable for most users. It delivers a steady, grounded blow with moderate to strong airflow, depending on technique. The design supports balanced administration while holding a steady grip.
Lightly polished with coconut oil and free from synthetic varnishes, the pipe retains its natural texture and organic feel. Each item is unique, and the variations in carving, tone, and grain pattern reflect the nature of handmade tools. The Tepi you receive will be in the same spirit and craftsmanship, yet carry its own individual character.
