Suco de Tabaco Amazonian - Brazilian and Peruvian Tabaco Nasal Spray
A Contemporary Expression of Traditional Tabaco Use
Throughout South America, liquid Tabaco preparations have long been used by shamans, tabaqueros, and ceremonial practitioners. In many regions, concentrated Tabaco juice is inhaled directly from the palm of the hand, allowing the aroma and strength of the plant to enter through the nose. Suco de Tabaco Amazonian is a modern continuation of this tradition, offering a refined and practical method of application through a nasal spray.
Unlike our Suco de Rapé varieties, this preparation contains no Rapé, no ashes, and no added aromatic botanicals. It is a pure Tabaco extract, bringing together some of the most respected Tabaco varieties used throughout the Amazon. Mapacho, Sabia, Moi, and Arapiraca are combined to create a preparation that expresses the depth, complexity, and strength of traditional Amazonian Tabaco in its purest form.
Energetic and Ceremonial Qualities
Suco de Tabaco Amazonian carries the unmistakable character of traditional Amazonian Tabaco. The aroma is deep, rustic, earthy, and powerful, immediately revealing the presence of the plants from which it is made. A single spray in each nostril produces a strong aromatic impact in the centre of the face, often followed by a profound sense of grounding, focus, and inward attention.
The experience is often described as centering and stabilising, helping to quiet mental chatter and encourage a state of calm presence. The robust aroma lingers long after application, leaving a lasting impression characteristic of traditional cured Tabacos.
Users who are sensitive to subtle inner processes, and who take a quiet moment to observe the physical and mental effects, often describe a distinct progression. The initial impact may feel slightly overwhelming, sometimes accompanied by a temporary increase in heartbeat and a heightened sense of alertness. This is often followed by tingling sensations in the hands or throughout the body, after which the experience gradually settles into a calm, grounded, and deeply centred state. Many users report that this transition from intensity to stillness is one of the most characteristic aspects of working with pure Tabaco preparations.
Compared to aromatic Suco blends such as Clarity, Muña, Menta or Solaris, Amazonian is more direct and uncompromising. It expresses the raw character of Tabaco itself, without sweetening influences or additional aromatic layers. Many users appreciate this preparation for its simplicity and authenticity, allowing them to work directly with the qualities of the plant.
The Tabaco Varieties
Suco de Tabaco Amazonian is created from four distinguished Tabaco varieties.
Mapacho is perhaps the most recognised ceremonial Tabaco of Peru and the wider Amazon. For generations it has been regarded as one of the principal plant allies of tabaqueros, shamans, and traditional healers. It is used in prayer, protection, cleansing rituals, divination, and numerous ceremonial preparations, making it one of the most important ritual plants of the Amazon basin. Sabia, Moi, and Arapiraca represent some of the most important cured Tabacos used throughout Brazil. These varieties form the foundation of countless Rapé recipes and are among the principal Tabacos used by tribes throughout Acre and the surrounding regions. Most traditional Rapés are made almost exclusively from these three Tabacos. Each contributes its own aromatic profile, strength, and character to the final extract. Together, these four Tabacos create a balanced yet powerful expression of Amazonian Tabaco tradition.

Warning on Ingesting Tabaco in Any Form
A strong warning is necessary when discussing traditional Tabaco preparations. While liquid Tabaco, often known as "Singa", plays an important role in various Indigenous traditions, drinking concentrated Tabaco juice can be extremely dangerous outside of those exact cultural contexts.
Many of the traditions described in ethnographic and historical accounts involve highly trained shamans who have undergone years of apprenticeship, dietary restrictions, and ceremonial preparation. Their use of concentrated Tabaco liquids takes place within specific ritual frameworks and should not be interpreted as a recommendation for modern experimentation.
For untrained individuals, ingesting Tabaco liquid can result in severe nicotine poisoning, overwhelming physical reactions, loss of consciousness, and other serious consequences. Traditional use does not imply safe recreational use.
Under no circumstances should concentrated Tabaco juice, Tabaco extracts, or liquid Tabaco preparations be consumed casually. Likewise, Suco de Tabaco Amazonian is intended exclusively for nasal application as described in the instructions and should never be swallowed or used as a drink.
The traditions surrounding Singa demonstrate the importance and power attributed to Tabaco throughout Amazonian cultures. They should be approached with respect, caution, and an understanding that many traditional practices are reserved for experienced practitioners operating within a specific ceremonial context.
Function and Composition
Suco de Tabaco Amazonian is produced using high-frequency resonance extraction, allowing the aromatic and energetic qualities of the Tabaco to be captured without excessive heat or chemical solvents. To learn more about this extraction method, read here.
Following extraction, the liquid undergoes multiple stages of filtration, including a final 2-micron filtration process that removes all plant material. What remains is a clear liquid containing only dissolved compounds.
The extract is then allowed to settle naturally for an extended period, often for many months. During this time, heavier saturated compounds slowly descend, clarifying the liquid. Because the extract is intentionally concentrated, a small amount of sediment may continue to form over time as active compounds gradually settle out of solution.
A small percentage of bio-alcohol is added to maintain stability while preserving the natural character of the extract.
Traditional Practice and Modern Application
Traditional Tabaco liquids are commonly inhaled directly from the palm of the hand. The nasal spray format offers a practical evolution of this practice. When applied with a gentle inward breath, the fine mist can reach deeper into the nasal passages and sinuses while maintaining the ceremonial intention of working consciously with the plant.
Use and Posture
Apply one or two sprays into each nostril, aiming the nozzle slightly toward the centre of the head. A gentle inhalation helps distribute the liquid throughout the nasal passages.
Remain seated upright during and after use. This allows fluids produced within the sinuses to move naturally forward and outward through the nose rather than into the throat. If any liquid reaches the throat, simply spit it out rather than swallowing it.
As with all concentrated Tabaco preparations, use sparingly, mindfully, and with respect.
Sprayer Instructions and Sediment Behaviour
Because the extract is highly concentrated, a fine sediment may gradually appear over time. This is not plant material but naturally precipitated compounds settling out of solution, a normal characteristic of concentrated botanical extracts.
To ensure reliable performance:
- Bottles are shipped without the nasal sprayer mounted.
- Attach the sprayer firmly until a distinct click and resistance are felt.
- Shake gently before each use to redistribute any settled compounds.
- If the nozzle becomes blocked, rinse the sprayer stem under lukewarm water and pump until the flow is restored.
- After cleaning, spray several times outside the water to remove any remaining moisture.
The 11 ml bottle is supplied with a nasal sprayer. The 22 ml refill bottle is supplied without a sprayer. Additional replacement sprayers can be ordered separately here.
Storage and Shelf Life
- Store the bottle below room temperature and away from direct sunlight to maintain optimal stability and aromatic quality.
- When stored under suitable conditions, the shelf life can reach up to two years. The best-before date is printed on the label for reference.
- After each use, wipe the nozzle with a slightly damp tissue and replace the protective cap securely to keep the sprayer clean and functioning properly.
