Suco de Rapé Clarity – Rapé Nasal Spray Liquid Extract. A Contemporary Expression of a Traditional Amazonian Medicine

Rapé is a traditional Amazonian snuff prepared from strong Tabaco (Nicotiana rustica) and the ashes of sacred trees. Used for countless generations by Indigenous tribes throughout Acre and the surrounding rainforest regions, Rapé is traditionally administered through the nostrils with a Kuripe or Tepi. This ceremonial practice is valued for its ability to support focus, presence, and inner alignment.

Alongside the well-known powdered form of Rapé, some communities also prepare liquid Tabaco extracts that are inhaled through the nose. Suco de Rapé Clarity is a modern continuation of this tradition, offering a refined and practical way to experience a liquid Rapé extract through a convenient nasal spray application.

Energetic and Ceremonial Qualities

Suco de Rapé Clarity is a concentrated Rapé nasal spray made from a carefully selected blend of traditional Rapé varieties and Amazonian Tobacos, including Rustica and Mapacho. During the final stages of preparation, aromatic ingredients from the Mint family and Cacao are added, creating a remarkably fresh, sparkling, pungent, and invigorating profile that remains grounded by earthy Tabaco undertones.

Using the same aromatic ingredients that made our popular Clarity Rapé blend, a favorite among experienced Rapé users, this liquid Rapé extract carries a direct, grounding, and inward-focusing character. The mint-rich aromatic profile creates an immediate cooling flash upon application, while rapid absorption through the nasal passages and sinuses produces a powerful sensory experience. A single spray in each nostril delivers a sharp, refreshing impact in the centre of the face, helping to cut through mental clutter and bring attention into the present moment.

Compared to traditional powdered Rapé, the experience of the nasal spray is often more immediate, sharper, and more concentrated. The rapid absorption of the liquid can feel powerful and occasionally overwhelming, especially for those unfamiliar with stronger preparations. For this reason, moderation is advised. Many users experience a brief period of intensity, sometimes accompanied by eye watering, sneezing, or a noticeable release of mucus, followed by a distinct sense of settling or descending into the body.

Although Clarity is not a traditional tribal recipe, it has gained immense popularity among Rapé enthusiasts, ceremonial practitioners, and even many Indigenous users. It is valued for its unusually clear and lucid character, promoting a state of heightened awareness and synchronized presence where mind, body, and attention become closely aligned. The Mint-like ingredients contribute to a sensation of openness and clarity, while the overall effect is often described as exceptionally focused, bright, and crystal clear.

As the initial intensity subsides and the nose is cleared, the character of the blend transforms noticeably. The cooling freshness gradually gives way to a gentle warmth, revealing the sweet and unmistakable aroma of Cacao. This lingering chocolate-like aftereffect often remains present long after application, leaving a memorable olfactory impression that has become one of the defining characteristics of the Clarity series.

Clarity is respected not only for its distinctive flavour profile but also for the unique journey it offers: an initial impact that is sharp, slicing, and invigorating, followed by a calm, grounded state of remarkable lucidity. The combination of sparkling freshness, earthy depth, and the warm Cacao finish creates an experience unlike any other within the Suco range.

Function and Composition

Suco de Rapé Clarity is crafted from a variety of authentic tribal Rapés, selected for their depth, grounding qualities, and strong presence. Aromas from the Mint family and Cacao family give this blends its special character. The exact formulation remains confidential, and natural variations ensure each batch is entirely unique and cannot be repeated exactly.

The liquid extract is produced using high-frequency resonance extraction, a method that draws out the aromatic and energetic qualities of the Rapés without heat or chemical solvents. After extraction, the liquid passes through multi-stage filtration, including a final 2-micron microfilter that removes all plant material. What remains is a clear liquid containing only dissolved active compounds.

Following filtration, the extract undergoes a long period of gravity-settling, sometimes a month, sometimes nearly a year. Heavier saturated compounds naturally descend, clarifying the liquid without force. Because the extract is deliberately made at high concentration, fine precipitation may still form over time, which is normal behaviour of a highly saturated extract. A small amount of bio-alcohol (9%), and halite salt are added to maintain stability without altering its character.

Traditional Practice and Modern Application

Liquid Tabaco preparations have been used throughout South America for generations, traditionally inhaled from the palm of the hand during ceremonial and shamanic practices. The Suco de Rapé nasal spray format offers a refined evolution of this traditional method. When applied with a gentle inward breath, the fine mist can reach deeper into the nasal passages and sinuses than conventional palm inhalation, while preserving the original intention of enhancing focus, presence, and connection with the medicine.

Use and Posture

Apply one or two sprays of Suco de Rapé into each nostril, aiming the nozzle slightly toward the centre of the head. A gentle inhalation helps distribute the liquid Rapé extract throughout the nasal passages.

Remain seated upright during and after application. This allows any fluids produced within the sinuses to move naturally forward and outward through the nose rather than draining into the throat. If any liquid reaches the throat, do not swallow it; simply spit it out, in accordance with traditional Tabaco practices. As with all Rapé preparations, use sparingly, mindfully, and with respect.

Sprayer Instructions and Sediment Behaviour

Because this liquid Rapé extract is highly concentrated, a fine sediment may gradually appear over time. This is not plant material but naturally precipitated active compounds settling out of solution, a normal characteristic of concentrated botanical extracts.

To ensure reliable performance:

- Bottles are shipped without the nasal sprayer mounted.
- Attach the sprayer firmly until a distinct click and resistance are felt.
- Shake gently before each use to redistribute any settled compounds.
- If the nozzle becomes blocked, rinse the sprayer stem under lukewarm water and pump until the flow is restored.
- After cleaning, spray several times outside the water to remove any remaining moisture.
- The 11 ml bottle is supplied with a nasal sprayer. The 22 ml refill bottle is supplied without a sprayer.

Additional replacement sprayers can be ordered separately here.

Storage & Shelf Life

Suco de Rapé does not require refrigeration. Store the bottle below room temperature and away from direct sunlight to maintain optimal stability and aromatic quality. When stored under suitable conditions, the shelf life can reach up to two years. The best-before date is printed on the label for reference.

After each use, wipe the nozzle with a slightly damp tissue and replace the protective cap securely to keep the sprayer clean and functioning properly.

Halite from the Himalayas

To harmonise the extract, a small amount of Himalayan Halite salt is added. Formed under immense geological pressure, this mineral grows as transparent, glass-like solids. When struck, the crystals split into perfect rectangular shapes, revealing their internal geometric precision.

Halite’s precise crystalline order allows it to dissolve smoothly and cleanly, creating a gentle saline character suited to the nasal passages. Because of its purity and structural clarity, only a very small amount is needed. It does not alter the nature of the extract, but provides a pure mineral foundation that supports comfort when the spray enters the sinuses.
Its presence also enables the liquid to be preserved with a lower percentage of alcohol, maintaining stability while keeping the extract as close as possible to its natural form.

Nasal Wash Recommendation

Because Suco causes less nasal fluid than powdered Rapé, a simple nasal wash can be helpful afterward. A basic rinse can be prepared using:

- distilled water
- a small amount of natural salt
- optionally a trace of Menthol for subtle freshness

Allow the rinse to remain briefly in the sinuses, then blow the nose with force. This can be repeated if desired, especially before sleep, to help keep the nasal passages open through the night.

Mapacho and Traditional Singa (Tabaco Liquid)

Mapacho (Nicotiana rustica) is one of the most traditional and widely respected plants of the Amazon. Considered a master plant, it is central to the work of tabaqueros — shamans who specialise in Tabaco — and it is also used alongside other teacher plants such as Ayahuasca. In many regions, Mapacho is prepared not only as smoke or Rapé, but also as "Singa", a strong Tabaco liquid used in ceremonies, initiations, and moments of crisis or healing.

Singa holds an important place in Amazonian ritual life. Depending on the tribe, it may be snuffed, drunk, or applied externally, often accompanied by specific chants. Its purpose varies: to shift consciousness, support trance states, fortify the shaman, or clear obstructive energies from a patient. Each community maintains its own methods of preparing and using Singa, and its role is shaped by the lineage and cosmology of the people.

In some areas of the Montaña and the Guyana region, shamans ingest or inhale concentrated Tabaco liquids during magico-religious ceremonies to enter visionary states. Recipes may include only Mapacho or be combined with other ritual plants, such as Ayahuasca or Maikoa (Brugmansia). Among the Coto of Peru, only shamans are permitted to snuff Singa, while other male members may drink it. The Jivaro peoples developed refined ways of preparing Tabaco juice for communication with the spirit world, using it in initiations, vision quests, war preparations, and protective rites. In their traditions, both men and women may participate in its use.

Guyana tribes typically squeeze and steep fresh Tabaco leaves in water, after which the liquid is either drunk or inhaled — women generally drink the infusion, while men inhale it. Among the Tukanos of Colombia and Brazil, Singa is reserved for shamanic rituals and used exclusively by shamans or their apprentices to deepen trance and induce purification. Some communities boil Tabaco water into a dense concentrate, occasionally thickened with cassava starch, creating a paste that is licked from the fingers or a wooden stick. These preparations are known for producing strong physical reactions that are considered integral to cleansing and renewal within those traditions.

In the Ecuadorian Montañas, Tabaco juice is consumed to communicate with spirits, and Tabaco water is inhaled to call upon the spirit of the plant during healing work. Campa tabaqueros likewise drink concentrated Tabaco preparations to seek guidance and strengthen their connection to the unseen world during ecstatic states. In various Jivaro traditions, Tabaco juice plays a significant role in supporting those experiencing imbalance or spiritual disturbance, and it is used in a broader context of care, protection, and ceremonial practice.

Across the Amazon, Mapacho remains a foundational plant — one that carries authority, clarity, and a capacity to bridge human and spiritual realms. Singa, in its many forms, reflects this relationship: a potent expression of trust, discipline, and dialogue with the living world that surrounds and supports the people who work with it.

Warning on Ingesting Tabaco in Any Form

A strong warning is necessary when discussing the ingestion of Tabaco liquids. While Singa plays an important role in various indigenous traditions, drinking concentrated Tabaco juice can be extremely dangerous outside of those exact cultural contexts. Indigenous shamans who work with Singa have undergone years of training, dietary restrictions, and initiation processes that allow them to tolerate and understand the plant’s intensity.

For untrained individuals, ingesting Tabaco liquid can lead to severe nicotine poisoning, overwhelming physical reactions, loss of consciousness, or worse. Traditional use does not imply safe recreational use. In many tribes, only highly trained shamans are allowed to drink or snuff concentrated Tabaco liquids, and even then, only during strictly guided ritual settings.

Under no circumstances should Tabaco juice be drunk by untrained persons, nor should it be experimented with casually. The same applies to any concentrated Tabaco extract. Modern users should never ingest Rapé, Singa, or any form of extracted Tabaco liquid.
