Shawadawa Ipe Roxo – Grounding and Energetic Clearing

Overview

This unique blend, made by our trusted producer Leonel, is a ceremonial-grade Rapé crafted in the Shawadawa tradition. It features Pau d’Arco (Ipe Roxo) ashes and a potent mix of traditional Brazilian Tabaco. Known for its grounding, cleansing properties, this Rapé helps remove energetic blockages, promotes inner clarity, and facilitates introspection. Often described as centering and gently purgative, it can also bring subtle mental alertness or emotional release. Used in ceremony, it offers a deep connection to the self and spirit.

Pau d’Arco Ashes

The ashes in this blend come from the Tabebuia tree, known as Pau d’Arco or Ipe Roxo. Traditionally used in Rapé by the Kamayurá and Tupi-Guarani peoples, Pau d’Arco is prized for its spiritual cleansing properties and grounding energy. Some plants are considered sacred by Indigenous groups, and Pau d’Arco is said to attract "alpha rays," which give human cells a positive electrical charge. These ashes are known to clear energetic stagnation and support deep mental and spiritual alignment. To read a comprehensive article on Pau d’Arco ashes, click here.

Tabaco

This Rapé contains a carefully crafted blend of two types of traditional Tabaco. One variety is cultivated by a family with three generations of experience, combining Amazonian Moi plants with those from the Arapiraca region in Brazil’s northeast—known for producing dense, strong Tabaco ideal for Rapé. The second comes from the Fulni-ô tribe, cured underground with honey to ferment naturally and increase its potency. The Tabaco is sun-dried, pounded by hand in wooden mortars, and sieved to produce an ultra-fine powder. The Shawadawa Tribe – People of the Macaw

The Shawadawa, meaning “People of the Macaw,” are an Indigenous group from Acre, Brazil, part of the Pano linguistic family. The macaw symbolizes freedom, strength, and spiritual connection—qualities reflected in their identity and ceremonial practices. Rapé is an important sacred medicine in Shawadawa tradition, used to clear the mind, connect to the spirit world, and strengthen the energetic body. It plays a central role in their healing work alongside Ayahuasca and Kambo.

Despite colonial pressures and environmental threats, the Shawadawa continue to protect their land and culture. They pass down knowledge through ritual, song, and storytelling, and have developed sustainable community projects like coconut oil extraction to support their autonomy without harming the forest. Setting the Standard for Ultra-Fine Rapé

We take great care to reprocess all received stock to ensure the finest quality powder. Often, Rapé arrives with varying levels of fineness due to the lack of professional sieves used by the tribe. To address this, we meticulously sieve all powders to remove rough bits and particles, resulting in a smooth and effective powder at 250-micron fineness—slightly less fine than most of our Rapé. We use laboratory-grade sieves and dehydrating equipment to achieve this quality. This is our standard because it provides the best Rapé experience.
