Pataxó Rapé – Mentha & Murici Ash (with Fulni-ô Tabaco)

This unique and refreshing Rapé comes from our new contact Canduru, a respected member of the Pataxó community of Brazil, and features a balanced combination of finely ground Mint leaves and Murici ash in equal parts.

Mild Tabaco Inclusion

To this, a small amount—roughly a quarter of the usual content—of Tabaco is added, sourced from the Fulni-ô tribe. The type of Tabaco included is a lighter, more blonde and organic variety—distinct from the darker, stronger Tabaco typically found in most Rapé blends. It contributes a milder and softer character to the experience. Though not entirely Tabaco-free, the blend remains gentle, emphasizing clarity and openness over intensity.

The felt experience is both uplifting and centering. The Mint imparts a cooling brightness that awakens the senses and opens the breath, while the Murici ash brings a subtle yet steady grounding quality. Rather than being harsh or overwhelming, the sensation is described as crisp—like the peppery clarity of fresh Mint—and invigorating in a quiet, penetrating way. This blend supports balance, inner alignment, and a clear mind, making it suitable for those seeking a refreshing yet rooted companion for moments of reflection, meditation, or ceremony.

Murici Ash – A Balancing Element

Murici ashes are obtained from the Byrsonima crassifolia tree, revered by many Indigenous tribes—especially the Yawanawá—for their cleansing and grounding properties. Within the context of Rapé, Murici ashes are known to aid in balancing the energetic field, particularly in the region of the lower abdomen, a center often associated with personal grounding and stability. Their inclusion in this blend adds a stabilizing quality that deepens the effects of the Mint, anchoring the clarity of mind in the body. The Murici tree itself is considered a traditional plant of strength and protection. Its ashes are often included in Rapé to support presence, alignment, and energetic clarity—especially in blends designed to promote balance without heaviness. About the Pataxó People

The Pataxó are an Indigenous people native to the Atlantic Forest region of Brazil. Despite centuries of displacement and forced assimilation, they have maintained a vibrant cultural identity rooted in language, ceremony, and environmental stewardship. The Pataxó speak Patxohã, a language being actively revitalized, and continue to practice sacred rituals such as the Toré dance, in which singing, drumming, and forest invocation are central. Traditional use of Tabaco and forest medicines plays an important role in their ceremonies and daily life.

Although not historically associated with Rapé, the Pataxó have in recent years embraced this sacred practice through respectful intertribal exchanges. Their adaptation of Rapé into their spiritual repertoire reflects a deepening connection between Indigenous traditions and the evolving ceremonial landscape of Brazil. On the Use of Tabaco and Intention

The Tabaco used in this preparation is a light, ceremonial-grade variety grown and prepared by the Fulni-ô tribe, known for its subtle strength and clarity. Its gentle presence in this Rapé serves not to overwhelm, but to hold the space—allowing the Mint and Murici to unfold in their full expression.

As with all Rapé blends, the use of this medicine is best approached with presence and respect. It is not a consumer product, nor a stimulant. It is a sacred tool, meant for intentional use, whether in solitary practice or guided ritual. Please read our article on the subject of Intention and Affirmation.

Note on Use

All descriptions refer to traditional and reported effects. No medical claims are made. This Rapé is offered as a spiritual and ceremonial tool, and its use is the responsibility of the individual. What it reveals or awakens will always depend on how it is approached.

Setting the Standard for Ultra-Fine Rapé

We take great care to reprocess all received stock to ensure the finest quality powder. Often, Rapé arrives with varying levels of fineness due to the lack of professional sieves used by the tribe. To address this, we meticulously sieve all powders to remove rough bits and particles, resulting in a smooth and effective powder at 250-micron fineness—slightly less fine than most of our Rapé. We use laboratory-grade sieves and dehydrating equipment to achieve this quality. This is our standard because it provides the best Rapé experience.
