Peru, Intensity 10 Of 10, 5 Ml from Peru (SKU 6193)
Heroic Strength (10/10) - Intensity: 10 on a scale of 10.
Matsés Sananga is a unique preparation sourced from the Matsés tribe of Peru. Unlike conventional Sananga made from dried root bark, it is produced from the fresh inner cambium juice of the plant, then carefully refined, laboratory-filtered, concentrated at low temperatures, and bottled under sterile conditions. The result is an exceptionally clean, particle-free liquid with a character that is distinctly hot, sharp, and intensely penetrating, yet free from the coarse or "sandy" sensation often found in fresh jungle-made Sananga. Designed for experienced users, its powerful onset is followed by a remarkably calm, warm, and contemplative after-state, leaving the mind quiet, focused, and deeply grounded.
Packed in 5 ml clear glass bottles with pipette dropper.

Sananga is a traditional Amazonian eye medicine prepared from the Tabernaemontana undulata shrub, a member of the Apocynaceae (Milkwood) family. For generations, indigenous peoples of the Amazon have used Sananga during ceremonies, before hunting, and as part of practices intended to cultivate focus, resilience, inner clarity, and spiritual awareness.
While all genuine Sananga shares the same ancestral roots, every preparation possesses its own unique character depending on the tribe, the plant material used, and the method of preparation. This Matsés Sananga stands apart from our other varieties through its use of fresh cambium juice, resulting in a remarkably clean yet exceptionally intense experience.
Source
This Sananga originates from the Matsés tribe of Peru, one of the indigenous peoples renowned for their profound knowledge of Amazonian medicinal plants.
Unlike most Sananga preparations, which are produced from fresh or dried root bark, this variety begins with the fresh inner cambium layer of the Sananga root. Shortly after harvesting, the cambium is processed into its natural juice in Peru before being imported in its raw form.
The juice is then refined under laboratory conditions, where the pure liquid is carefully separated from the fibrous plant material using meticulous filtration and hygienic processing. Finally, the liquid is slowly concentrated at low temperatures, preserving the character of the fresh material while removing excess moisture without exposing it to unnecessary heat.
This concentrated extract forms the basis of our Matsés Sananga and is diluted only with distilled water to produce the available strengths.
What Makes Matsés Sananga Different?
The difference between this preparation and conventional Sananga becomes apparent immediately upon application.
Because it originates from fresh cambium juice rather than dried plant material, the experience has a distinctly different character. The sensation is hotter, cleaner, sharper, and more penetrating, yet surprisingly smooth. Thanks to the extensive laboratory filtration, the finished liquid contains no suspended plant particles, eliminating the abrasive or "gritty" sensation that is often associated with freshly prepared jungle Sananga.
Instead of feeling coarse or sandy, this Sananga delivers a remarkably pure burning sensation that seems highly focused and concentrated. The initial onset can feel almost overwhelming, yet the liquid itself remains exceptionally clean and comfortable on the surface of the eye.
After the peak has passed, the character changes dramatically. Many experienced users describe a profound sense of calm, warmth, mental silence, and emotional stillness. Thoughts seem to dissolve, leaving behind a contemplative state that often lasts long after the physical sensations have disappeared.
Available Strengths
Because the fresh cambium concentrate is naturally very potent, we currently produce this Sananga in only two carefully balanced strengths.
Advanced Strength (7/10)
Designed for experienced Sananga users, this version delivers a powerful burning sensation with a prolonged peak. Although many users familiar with stronger Sananga preparations find it manageable, its unique "hot" character often makes it feel more intense than its numerical rating suggests.
Heroic Strength (10/10)
Our strongest Matsés preparation is intended exclusively for highly experienced practitioners seeking the deepest and most demanding Sananga experience. The initial burning phase is exceptionally powerful and should only be approached with respect and previous experience.
Because sensitivity to Sananga varies greatly between individuals, no numerical rating can perfectly predict the perceived intensity.
Traditional Use
Among Amazonian tribes, Sananga has traditionally been used before hunting to sharpen awareness and improve concentration. It is also applied during ceremonies and spiritual practices to quiet the mind, remove energetic distractions, and prepare oneself for deeper states of perception.
Within indigenous traditions, Sananga is regarded not merely as an eye preparation but as a medicine that encourages discipline, presence, and clarity.
The Matsés Experience
Experienced Sananga users often notice that this preparation behaves differently from Sananga produced from dried root bark.
The onset is immediate. Within seconds the burning sensation rapidly intensifies, reaching a peak that generally lasts three to five minutes before gradually subsiding. Although the peak itself is relatively brief, it is often described as one of the cleanest yet most penetrating Sananga experiences available.
Unlike preparations containing microscopic plant fibres, the intensity comes almost entirely from the medicine itself rather than from physical irritation.
As the burning diminishes, many users experience a remarkable shift into deep relaxation. The mind becomes noticeably quieter, emotional tension softens, and a warm feeling of groundedness often replaces the initial intensity. Many describe this transition as one of the most rewarding characteristics of the Matsés preparation.
Recommendations
This Sananga is not recommended for beginners.
Although experienced users of very strong Sananga may perceive the duration as moderate, its distinctive hot character often surprises even seasoned practitioners.
If you are new to Sananga, we strongly recommend beginning with one of our milder preparations before exploring this fresh cambium variety.
How to Apply
Another person applies one drop to each eye while you lie flat on your back with your eyes closed. Traditionally, experienced practitioners often place the drops directly onto the opened eyes. For beginners, however, placing the drops into the inner corners of the closed eyes allows the liquid to flow naturally into the eyes when they are opened, creating a more gradual introduction.
Experience shows that direct application onto the open eye produces a noticeably stronger and more immediate effect. Because the first eye usually reacts instantly, many people become physically unable to apply the second drop themselves. For this reason, assistance from another person is strongly recommended.
Remaining on your back during the first moments offers an important practical advantage. The intense burning causes the eyelids to squeeze tightly shut, often forcing part of the liquid outward. When lying flat, the drops and tears remain pooled around the eyes, allowing the medicine to repeatedly re-enter the eye during blinking. If sitting upright immediately, much of the liquid simply runs down the face.
As the first wave begins to settle, usually after about one minute, it is advisable to sit upright while maintaining calm, steady breathing. Avoid resisting the experience. Many users, including experienced practitioners, find it almost impossible to keep their eyes open during the peak. This is a natural protective reflex.
Some advanced users intentionally lean slightly forward and gradually open the eyes once the intensity begins to soften. Rolling the eyes slowly or blinking deliberately allows the remaining medicine and tears to continue bathing the surface of the eyes, sometimes extending the contact time. Although opening the eyes during this stage requires considerable determination, many experienced users consider it an integral part of working consciously with the medicine.
Remain grounded. Breathe deeply. The intensity always passes, often giving way to remarkable calm, clarity, and inner stillness.
Short Tips
Because this preparation is produced from fresh cambium rather than dried plant material, even experienced Sananga users may find its character surprisingly different.
Approach the medicine with respect, allow yourself sufficient time afterward to rest and integrate the experience, and avoid rushing back into stimulating environments immediately after application. Many users prefer to work with Matsés Sananga during the evening or before meditation, when the peaceful after-effects can be fully appreciated.
Cautions
Always remove contact lenses before applying Sananga.
Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye.
If you have existing eye conditions, recent eye surgery, or any concerns regarding your ocular health, consult an appropriate healthcare professional before use.
Conclusion
Matsés Fresh Sananga represents one of the most distinctive Sananga preparations in our collection. Produced from the fresh cambium juice of the plant rather than dried root bark, it offers a character that is noticeably different from conventional preparations. Hotter, cleaner, sharper, and exceptionally focused.
Its intense onset is balanced by an equally remarkable after-state of warmth, silence, clarity, and contemplation. For experienced Sananga practitioners seeking an authentic fresh-plant preparation with exceptional purity and craftsmanship, Matsés Fresh Sananga offers a unique journey into one of the Amazon's most respected traditional eye medicines.
Sananga Experience Reports and Insights
A customer reported to me that he tried Sananga eye drops and said, "It didn't work. All I had was extreme pain and nothing else, so it didn't work." I explained to him the effects of Sananga and the benefits of the pain:
"It seems to have worked perfectly. The pain of Sananga allows for healing. If it doesn't hurt, you won't achieve that process. The pain helps you to ground and balance. Initially, it may cause suffering and drama, but once you understand how to manage it, you can achieve a state of zen and fearlessness. It will become easier.
Take the pain without drama. Eventually, you'll be able to use Sananga without hesitation or fear of what's coming. When you apply it, simply allow the process to happen. Remain calm, breathe, and endure the pain without letting it cause despair. Sit up straight, roll your eyeballs, and transform any inner struggle into determination. You can channel all that pain into power immediately. Opening the eyes after application is a major challenge, but it is a crucial part of embracing the Sananga experience and harnessing its full potential.
The benefits afterward go beyond fearlessness. It frees you from drama, irritation, pain, fear, and anger. Sananga also has beneficial effects on your eyes, removing accumulated dirt from your lens and the back of your eyes. You will experience better focus, both visually and mentally. Sananga can make you a warrior, providing determination to achieve anything, unhindered by negative emotions.
Minutes after the experience, up to days later, and sometimes permanently, you will find yourself more determined and less affected by negative emotions. If you can handle Sananga, you can handle everyday life much better, especially in challenging situations that provoke negative emotions, drama, fear, or anger."
User Report
"...My first encounter with Sananga, was at the end of a ceremony and after having received my first rapé. My friend and experienced guide told me : 'Oh, I only have my extreme Sananga bottle in my medicine box, so that is what we'll do'. Wow. This was strong. Extreme. Such intense pain. Even after + 10 minutes, it wasn't easy to open my eyes. But it felt so refreshing, especially in terms of learning how to surrender and let go of all resistance. When I went outside my yurt afterward, I noticed my eyesight was better and improved - at least a bit. At least, my eyes felt different, even more so in combination with the Nukini Yemanja rapé I received before Sananga.
During the night, I had a vivid dream. I saw an owl, and his eyes were covered with hard skin, which made it almost impossible for the owl to look clearly. For me, it was clear the Spirit of Sananga gave me a clear message. The owl symbolised my intuition, and the worn skin over the eyes, my clouded ability to connect to my inner wisdom - and to see clearly. This, in combination with other synchronicities, made me commit to a 21-day Sananga diet (medium - not extreme). I also received some guidance from my friend/practitioner, which was helpful whenever I had questions or concerns about the process & my integration.
During my daily ceremonies, I always first self-administered a gentle Nukini Yemanja rapé, and a bit afterward, one drop medium Sananga in every eye. Over 21 days, I could notice my ability to gradually soften into it more and more, up to the point where I was more or less 100% able to let all resistance go and allow the medicine to do its work. I felt when I could relax my eyes and all surrounding micro-muscles and tissues completely, only then the medicine was able to enter my body & being - and share its deeper wisdom & benefits. Sometimes I was in pain, and I started crying, sometimes I dropped gradually into surrendering more, and every time it was an inspiring experience. Especially in the beginning, I was not always looking forward to hurting my eyes willfully :-) and go through this experience, but since I did commit to a 21-day diet - I just did it. And over time, I started looking forward to these sessions and opening up the pathways towards my innate intuition.
After +/- 10 days, I noticed a remarkable improvement in my eyesight. Have you ever experience a lucid dream where all colors seem to vibrate so much more than in our 3D reality? Have you ever played with the 'saturation' and 'contrast' sliders on your computer screen or as a filter with your digital photographs? Well, it seemed as if I could gradually see more and more depth, more contrast, more precision, more color saturation,... I literally could not believe my eyes. After 14 days or so it was as if I saw for the first time - colors, depth,... as I've never seen before. I cannot describe this in words - and I thought I had good eyes :-) but now I was learning to see again. It felt as if some kind of old skin, a veil, was lifted, gradually, day by day, from my eyes. My eyes regenerated themselves until an extend I never held possible. After 21 days, it felt, quite literally, as if I had received a new pair of eyes. Utterly unique, and this is an understatement.
I understand now, in the same way, the skin hardens on the palms of our hands and the sole of our feet, the soft skin/layers of our eyes also hardens, day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year... gradually, without us hardly noticing it. And they degenerate, bit by bit - unless we give them proper care & rest. Sananga can help us to, drop by drop, shed off old skin of the eyes - and renew. Sure, it is not only physical - even more so energetical. I often experienced moments of revelation, where I suddenly saw things clearly - especially in terms of projecting my own unresolved issues upon others and the universe. I am you, and you are me. Or I immediately 'saw' the solution of my question/intention of that specific ceremony. So many teachings, too many lessons. What a journey it was, these 21-days. Honestly, beyond my belief, but sure, I believe it now because I have experienced it :-)
Some possibly valuable tips if you want to deepen your Sananga work:
If you feel like doing a deep-dive, consider doing it during the evening before going to bed. Because in my experience, the eyes may need some rest afterward, specially if you are doing it several days/weeks in a row. Suppose you put your eyes immediately to work again - by absorbing and processing daylight and tons of other information. In that case, I feel this may interrupt the deep healing work of Sananga, and it's medicinal benefits. And if you do Sananga in a room/place with light (even when it is subtle), consider wearing an eye-mask, or cover your eyes with something else after receiving Sananga. When I did this, it was far easier to relax and dissolve all resistance. And lastly, I feel it also helps to share your experience with someone you trust and possibly has (more) experience with Sananga..."
Another Wonderful User Report
“…When I first tried Sananga I was thankful for the peace and clarity the first experience brought me, something I had long been searching for. It seemed to have arrived in my life at just the right moment. Approaching my mid seventies I have lived through abuse, heroin addiction, alcoholism, foreign prisons, hepatitis C, chemo and snorting half of Peru in the process. All in an attempt to still the pain that was my life. Then I got lucky and found Ayahuasca. From that moment I realised that all that I been through was a series of lessons that made who I am and suddenly I liked myself. As my health and spirituality grew there still seemed to be a part of the puzzle that was missing. I was expending lots of energy, but achieving little, everything was an effort and nothing seemed to get done. I thought I was doing all the right things, but something was blocking me. Then I had five wonderful communications with the energy that is Sananga and each time the warrior spirit within me grew and my blockages fell away. Each time I would give thanks to the spirit of the plant and make my intentions known and each time I was rewarded. Things that once seemed a task, I now do with joy in my heart and endless energy. Doors have opened and life is flowing once more, and every day I give thanks. As if to show me my warrior powers, I was put in a dangerous situation. Without fear I stood my ground and radiated the warrior energy, and my opponents backed down. Guess I must have seemed a little crazy, but it worked. That is what Sananga has done for me. I have focus and am no longer affected by the events taking place around me. I am fearless and feeling the power that is within and it seems limitless. I guess the best description is, I feel complete. Sananga makes you realise your true potential. Something we have lost in our present reality. This gift however is not free, a price must be paid. In order to truly receive the benefits, first you must purify yourself, removing the toxins of everyday life. Saunas and fasting helps and plenty of water, but it’s worth the effort. Sananga can give you back your life…”

How to Make Your Own Sananga Drops
We offer the dried Sananga rootbark, To make the process of extracting the material easy, we offer a Sananga DIY Kit that contains all the neccesary tools to extract the rootbark into a clear liquid. The kit comes with photo-illustrated and detailed instructions that make it very easy to make and store your own Sananga.
Storage and Shelf Life
When stored in a cool, dark place, unopened bottles remain stable for years. After opening, refrigeration is recommended to maximise freshness and long-term stability, although it is not strictly necessary. The drops continue to retain their potency and clarity for a very long time, provided they are handled hygienically and the cap is replaced immediately after each use. If stored in the refrigerator, always keep the bottle inside the supplied grip-seal bag. This protects the dropper from contamination by moisture, food odours, and microorganisms that may be present inside the refrigerator, helping to maintain the cleanliness of the bottle throughout its use.
Over extended storage, a very fine sediment may occasionally settle at the bottom of the bottle. This is simply the natural settling of some of the active constituents and is entirely normal. If desired, gently shake the bottle before use to redistribute the sediment.
How to Recognise Spoilage
Properly stored Sananga should remain clear, transparent, and free from unpleasant odours. If the liquid becomes cloudy, develops floating particles, gelatinous clumps, or an unusual smell, it should no longer be used.
In our own long-term observations, unopened bottles stored under normal conditions have remained perfectly clear and fully potent for more than two years. This gives us great confidence in the exceptional stability and shelf life of this preparation when produced using our advanced extraction and preservation methods.

Other names: Becchete, Manaá, Kampi, Shaneé, Sananga, Tabernaemontana undulata
Sananga, derived from the Tabernaemontana undulata root bark, is known by various names depending on the region and the indigenous tribes using it. Some alternative names for Sananga include:
Becchete: Used by the Matsés tribe.
Manaá: Commonly used by the Kaxinawá tribe.
Kampi: Another name used by indigenous groups in the Amazon.
Shaneé: A name used by the Yawanawá tribe.
Although Sananga is said to contain Ibogaine alkaloids there is actually little evidence to suggest this is in fact true. Tabernaemontanta is not actually a genus but a "sub-family", and therefore also classified as "Tabernaemontanoidae". McKenna reports that only some of the several dozen or so plants in this sub family contain ibogaine, others like ‘undulata' may only have analgesic or sedative properties.
Packaging and Storage
We offer our Sananga in 5 ml clear glass bottles equipped with a pipette dropper for precise application. Our Sananga is a clean, standardised, and sterile product. The liquid contains no plant particles, only active ingredients, ensuring purity and potency. After bottling, the product is pasteurised to guarantee safety and extend shelf life when unopened. For optimal longevity, avoid touching the pipette, close the bottle immediately after use, and store it refrigerated. If kept free from bacterial contamination, the shelf life of an opened bottle can easily extend to a year. We recommend storing the bottle inside a closed grip-seal bag to avoid contamination of the outside of the bottle.
