Welcome to Katukina.com, your trusted source for authentic tribal products and shamanic tools. Our roots run deep in the world of ethnobotany, tracing back to a lineage of passionate collectors and providers that began in the year 1999. Over the years, our dedication to exploring and understanding the profound cultural significance of these sacred plants and medicines has only grown stronger.
In early 2015, after years of meticulous research and hands-on experience, we founded Katukina.com. At that time, Rapé was a rare and underground commodity, scarcely available online and hardly known outside of indigenous communities. Recognizing the need to share this powerful tradition with a wider audience, we began sourcing Rapé directly from its original tribal origins in Acre, Brazil. What started as a humble offering has now grown into a rich and diverse selection of Rapé blends, ashes, and tabaco powders, all sourced with the utmost respect for the indigenous cultures that have perfected these sacred practices over centuries.
Our company name, Katukina, is a tribute to the Katukina tribe, who inhabit the Amazonas and Acre region. The Katukina are renowned for their deep connection with the Kambo frog and their traditional Rapé varieties. This tribe carries a vast knowledge of plants, which they believe was bestowed upon them by spirit beings. In their worldview, every human being is driven by the quest to find a balanced relationship with their surroundings, including other humans, animals, and spirits. We honor the Katukina tribe as they have played a pivotal role in bringing indigenous tools and knowledge to urban areas, making these rare shamanic tools accessible to a global audience.
When we first started offering Rapé, it was a rare and niche product, often arriving in used soda bottles from small, early-stage productions. At that time, the availability of authentic Rapé was extremely limited, and much of it was made in small batches by indigenous tribes. We believe that the initial demand for Rapé sparked a revival among many tribes, encouraging them to reconnect with their traditional practices of making this sacred medicine. However, as the popularity of Rapé grew, so did the number of suppliers, and not all of them were honest about their sources. Unfortunately, this led to an influx of fake and homemade Rapé produced by overcreative suppliers without genuine ties to the tribes or respect for their traditions. However, there are now numerous websites offering tribal Rapé from sources as genuine as ours. We are confident that true Rapé connoisseurs can recognise quality through the product’s name, the reputation of the supplier, and ultimately, by the authenticity and effectiveness of the Rapé once it has been tested.
Throughout this growth and change in the market, we have remained committed to the authenticity and quality of our products by consistently sourcing from our original suppliers. We work with about four trusted middlemen who have deep, established connections with the tribes, ensuring that our Rapé is as genuine and potent as it was when we first began. We were among the first to professionally offer Rapé through our webshop, quickly expanding our selection to over 50 varieties, and now proudly offering around 85. Among these, three blends—Pineal Flush, Orchid Fever, and Clarity—are personally crafted by us using traditional ingredients directly sourced from the tribes. While the production and availability of Rapé have scaled up significantly, we remain dedicated to offering only the most authentic and powerful blends, recognizing the importance of customer feedback and the clear distinction in quality that comes from true indigenous sources.
Our close connections with various tribes in the Amazon basin, such as the Apurina, Yawanawa, Katukina, Kaxinawa, Shanenawa, Shawandawa, Kallawaya, Nukini, Kuntanawa, Shipibo, and Matses, allow us to offer a wide variety of Rapé. Each tribe produces its own specific type of Rapé, each with a unique composition and character, serving different spiritual and medicinal purposes. We have established a sustainable connection with these tribes, ensuring that everyone involved benefits from this exchange, thereby supporting the preservation of their cultural heritage.
Today, we are proud to offer one of the most extensive collections of Rapé available, featuring a wide variety of blends from different tribes, each with its unique properties and purposes. Our offerings extend beyond Rapé to include a carefully curated selection of shamanic tools and ethnobotanical treasures. From Kuripe and Tepi (Rapé blowpipes) to rare and potent items like Kambo, Sananga, Chilcuague, and Dragon's Blood, we strive to provide everything you need to deepen your connection to these ancient traditions.
Our collection also features a diverse array of tabaco varieties such as Mapacho, Arapiraca, Sabia, and Tabaco de Moi, along with shamanic incenses like Palo Santo, and a selection of teas, spices, and visionary art forms. We are deeply committed to sourcing the highest quality products directly from South America, ensuring that everything we offer is authentic, sustainable, and ethically obtained.
